AI Registry

Our multidisciplinary team, including expert clinicians, engineers, and scientists, uses novel machine learning and deep learning algorithms to create predictive models with the goal of improving the quality of care for orthopaedic patients. The purpose of AI registry is to examine the role of disease factors, patient’s medical conditions, and treatments on the outcomes of patients who have experienced orthopedic injuries. Through this analysis of various orthopedic conditions, we work to advocate for best practices.

Everything in our lab starts with an unanswered question that is observed in our clinics. With the ultimate goal of seeing advances in artificial intelligence implemented in clinical settings, our researchers and clinicians work together to understand and formulate the problem. In this first step, we sketch simple causal diagrams as the mutual language that connects the team (data!), to understand the datasets and important metrics that are needed to initiate a study. Next we create diagnostic and predictive models based on the latest advanced in the field of machine learning and statistical analysis to aid in improving quality of care. SORG already has numerous algorithms that are utilized around the world. By building the AI Registry database, we hope to streamline this process and continue creating, validating, and improving our models to help democratize knowledge and support clinical decision making on an international scale.
